The Montreal’s Fashion Mart organizes several events to promote known designers to buyers and to the local and international media, and to offer exposure to tomorrow’s talent. These events include the Fashion and Design Festival - Montreal, the Association du CIMM pour une bonne cause (Montreal Fashion Mart’s Association for a Good Cause), conferences, etc.

Conferences

On March 2, 2010, we had the chance to welcome Courtney Kramer for a conference at the Montreal Fashion Mart.  Ms. Kramer is a Trend Coordinator and Media Director at The Doneger Group, a fashion industry expert specializing in the analysis of international trends in marketing and retailing.

The subject of the talk was new trends for Spring 2011. We were given an overview of fashion trends, changes in consumer behavior and lifestyles for fashion followers through retailing, new technologies, events, media, and arts.

Montreal Fashion Mart’s Association for a Good Cause

As part of Montreal Fashion Week (September 2010), the designers who presented in the Midi Fashion, and other Montreal Fashion Mart’s tenants, joined the Montreal Logis Rose-Virginie organization, which supports women in need.

The designers each gave clothes with a retail value of $1,000 to the organization’s beneficiaries, with the goal of making them feel beautiful and good about themselves. A total of more than $22,000 in clothing was delivered. Thank you to all donors for your generosity!

Fashion & Design Festival - Montreal
The Montreal’s Fashion Mart is working to promote Montreal fashion. For the second consecutive year, the Montreal’s Fashion Mart showcased its tenants at the tenth Fashion & Design Festival - Montreal by giving them great visibility.

McGill College Avenue, located in downtown Montreal, was revamped for the occasion, and numerous fashionistas, media people, tourists and locals attended the event.

The Montreal’s Fashion Mart gave the designers and collections an opportunity to get closer to their consumers by showcasing their work in the company of prestigious names.

Frank Lyman and Samuel Dong’s success at the ninth edition encouraged the Montreal’s Fashion Mart to present seven collections and one designer at its tenth edition. So in 2010, the fashion show was presented under the "Street Wear" sign with Custo Barcelona, CYC Coco y Club, Rabe, Ginger de Rino Rossi, Coco & Tashi, Brave Belts, Line, Yumi, and Samuel Dong.

This initiative contributes to the growth of Montreal’s Fashion Mart companies and designers, while helping to grow Montreal’s fashion sector, resulting in excellent media coverage of this internationally established fashion event. With its special partnerships, the Montreal’s Fashion Mart can encourage and help members to be in the forefront of the fashion scene in Quebec and worldwide.

The 2010 Festival attracted over 450,000 visitors from August 4 to 7, making it a great North American event blending fashion, design and music.
